30th June

Gnome stopped for a Picnic... (Hi Jo)

Then decided a BBQ was a better option.

There were no clouds and no wind at all as you can see from the condensation from the water cooling tower... but this blocked out the sun for a couple of miles.

A steep down hill!

Is it this way?

That is a flat tyre.

Pretty but with cobbles.

Pretty town just before Rhine Falls

On the wooden bridge

Were not that quick but this home made chariot for three (two kids) on a bicycle side car.

June 30th
Jestetten to Mohlin (49.6 miles by bicycle)
Ok the route is beginning to flatten out and the milage is rising now.
Up at 6am to miss the heat and left the site about 7:15...getting faster but
need to improve on it!
Cycling with damp shirt for first hour was actually refreshing.
The guidebook was useless about the ups and down on this section for some reason
as some were not recorded. Christine saw lots of big eagle like birds and we
passed through some very picturesque villages. Some leap frog on the way with
other couples clearly doing the same route.
Suprised outselves with the speed and distance now (remember carrying full loads
not empty bikes). Lunch at Bad Sackingen was izza and salad and watched people
getting lost. Ice cream before back on the bikes at an old wooden bridge over
the Rhine and a cycle down the path by the river. Saw an interesting bicycle
with a side car!
The crossing to the campsite (Germany to Switzerland) was using a path over a
water power station. Even here the Rhine is huge now.
As we cycled into the campsite Christine thought we would have to pitch in full
sun but no we had a wonderful shaded area along with a nice bench to eat on. 2
solo german cyclists shared the general area, one was nice (son had broken
fingers so no cycling or him now) the other was a bit odd.
Basel and out of Switzerland for good tomorrow.
