The fast ferry to Rotterdam stop
Started off nice and slow...
Then picked up speed and Christine went and stood by her bike.
Big meal in Rotterdam
The train to Hoek Van Holland was very civilised.
Dom went to brush his teeth and came back to find Christine had all but packed
up the tent.... so much for a lay in! 6:30am we started.
As it was a bit cooler than it had been first time we had a hot drink at the tent for a while. As drinking it Dom found Christine a 4 leaved clover.
From the campsite in Dordrecht we peddled a short distance to the ferry terminal and after advise from the canoeing couple from a few days previously we took the fast ferry into Rotterdam.
The cost was pretty reasonable just 8.80 euros and the trip looked like was
going to be great then the school trip from hell arrived. Up to then we thught
the kids we met so far had all been really great but this lot were not the best.
Rotterdam once we got there to be honest was not impressive at all so other than where it was at the end of the Rhine I wouldn't say it was worth the cycle! We found the train station had some lockers so left all our kit and peddled about the centre just to see if we had missed anything... we hadn't. Lunch in some resaurant that seems to have an identity issue... bears everywhere and then pictures of the flintstones (were there bears in it I missed??). Then caught the train rather than cycle the 25 miles to Hoek van Holland to try and catch the
ferry home... we missed it and stayed locally. As we pitched the tent two
cyclists we had met the previous day turned up!
After dinner, ice creams and wine then Dom dreamed of ants marching over him!
